AU Won MOE’s Hsieh-Hai (Overseas Engagement)
Scholarship for 300 Students to Study Abroad

AU has been granted 14,900,000 NT dollars from Ministry of Education for the 2021 Hsieh-Hai Scholarship Series: namely, Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Excellent Students to Study Abroad; Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Underprivileged Students to Study Abroad; Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Overseas Internship Program; and Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Southbound Internship Program.  AU is ranked No. 1 in the total amount of scholarship funding among 160 universities in Taiwan. With this financial support, AU will be able to send some 300 students to study or to do their internship overseas

Professor Yinghuei Chen, Dean of the International College, said that AU sent 22 project proposals to apply for Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Southbound Internship Program, and all the projects were approved by Ministry of Education. For the coming academic year, 130 AU students will go to Singapore for airport internship, to Australia for health care internship, to the Philippines for banking service internship, to Vietnam for fashion design internship, to Indonesia for mobile network internship, to Malaysia for architecture internship, to India for MCCSS internship, and to Cambodia for social work internship.

Regarding the Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Overseas Internship Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Overseas Internship Program, AU sent 12 projects and all of them were approved by Ministry of Education.  It is estimated that approximately 50 AU students will go to Japan for health care internship, to America for physical therapy internship and childhood education internship, to Germany for law internship, etc.

Through the Hsieh-Hai Scholarship for Excellent Students to Study Abroad, AU will send 100 students to study abroad for dual degree programs and exchange programs overseas. Moreover, AU will send one underprivileged student to study in Japan.

To provide necessary assistance to the Hsieh-Hai Scholarship students, Dean Chen mentioned that the Language Center at Asia University will offer intensive English training courses to help students to polish their English for language proficiency tests.  The International College will invite some experts from the industry to share their ideas and experience with our students preparing to go for an internship.

Dr. Jeffery J. P. Tsai, President of Asia University, stated that Hsieh-Hai scholarship has helped many students to fulfill their dreams of studying abroad and AU will continue to promote this program to benefit more students in the future.
