The research team led by Prof. Yu-Cheng Chiang at Asia University's Food Safety Center has once again been honored with two 'Innovation Enhancement Awards' this year for their advancements in 'Detection Chip' and 'Temperature Control Chip' technologies. This accomplishment marks the fifth consecutive year that the center has received a total of 10 awards. Asia University has been actively promoting comprehensive AI teaching and research, resulting in fruitful results in AI biotechnology and medical technology, accumulating a total of 16 awards over five years, including 'National Innovation Awards' and 'Innovation Enhancement Awards.'
Established in 2003, the National Biotechnology and Medical Industry Promotion Association presents the 'National Innovation Awards' to recognize outstanding performances in innovative features, technological advantages, and application strategies in areas such as biopharmaceuticals, new medical technologies, medical equipment, and devices.

In 2021, Prof. Chiang's research team at the Food Safety Center of Asia University was recognized for their developments in "Wireless Energy Transfer Real-Time Temperature Monitoring Semiconductor Chip for Food Safety" and "Development and Application of Gene Probes, Primers, and Biochips for Beneficial and Pathogenic Bacteria." These achievements earned them both 'National Innovation Awards' and 'Innovation Enhancement Awards.' Building on this success, the team continued to refine their detection technology, securing two 'Innovation Enhancement Awards' for two consecutive years with their 'Detection Chip' and 'Temperature Control Chip' technologies.

Director Chiang stated that the food safety research team at Asia University has received sponsorship and support funds from the National Science Council's interdisciplinary "Five Plus Two" and the industry innovation flagship project "Constructing a Safe Food System: Supply Chain Transparency." The goal is to establish an integrated development and application platform for food safety, traceability, biochips, and artificial intelligence systems. Among them, the "Detection Chip" has the advantages of rapid, multi-functionality, and label-free characteristics. It can be utilized for the rapid detection of emerging viruses, infectious diseases, foodborne viruses, and pathogens. This chip serves as a new interdisciplinary food safety technology platform, combining Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain, digital software, and food safety technology to help promote food safety and protect public health.

Director Chiang observed that the "Temperature Control Chip" has already collaborated with well-known domestic food and beverage operators for the development of automated technologies in food safety and cold chain management. It can serve as a crucial virtual and real integration interface for food safety, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, applied to the regulation and control of food safety. The applications are extensive, covering continuous and uninterrupted monitoring from the source of food to the consumer end. The chip-related technology allows for continuous and uninterrupted monitoring from the source of food to the consumer end. It can also be applied across disciplines and borders for raw material food safety control, surpassing many technologies currently available.
Director Chiang also remarked that in addition to receiving support funds from the National Science Council and industry-academia cooperation projects, the relevant research technologies have also been featured as highlights by the National Research Information System. The research team has been invited to participate in exhibitions such as the Asia Biotech Expo and Future Tech Online Expo. The Food Safety Center promotes emerging technologies to safeguard the health and physical safety of the public, reduce food waste, and enhance the hygiene and safety of food. In the future, the center will focus on food safety, strive to promote sustainable development and bring substantial benefits to the overall environment, society, and economy.
